When it comes to our health and wellness, it seems that we often invest all of our efforts in one facet but disregard the others. Maybe you pay great attention to the food you eat but lack consideration of your mental health.

Lasting transformation comes down to finding balance in all areas: mind, body, and spirit. Here are ten transformative habits for your health and wellness.


  • Surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you. You’ve heard the saying that you become like those you spend the most time with. It’s almost inevitable and, therefore, that much more important. Invest in relationships that challenge you intellectually, professionally, morally, and more. Being around inspirational people will have you striving to be your best.
  • Set aside time to be alone. It’s important to have a social group since it’s our human nature to connect, but it’s also crucial to spend time alone. Alone time allows us to reflect, gain self-awareness, and learn our priorities.
  • Read more. Reading is one of the greatest ways to never stop learning. Best of all, you don’t need to spend money on books and can take advantage of free resources from your local, public library! Staying curious will keep your mind challenged and stimulated.



  • Eat fewer processed foods and beverages. Anything processed likely has additives, artificial ingredients, or unnecessary chemicals that you put in your body. Try eating whole with a primary diet of veggies, fruits, and proteins. Instead of drinking soda every day, opt for sparkling water.
  • Walk at least 2 to 3 times a day. If you work in an office or have any form of a 9 to 5 job, sometimes fitting in a regular workout can be tough. With so much sitting, it’s essential that you get up and walk at least 2 to 3 times a day. This helps stimulate your blood flow, improve posture, and add physical activity to your normal day.
  • Find a sport or activity that engages you. The less you look at exercise as a workout and more as a hobby or passion, the more motivated you will be to stick with it. So if you don’t like the gym, try an activity that engages you, whether that’s climbing, hiking, or dancing.
  • Drink lots of water. Water helps your body function at its best. So stay hydrated with a reusable water bottle that you can refill throughout the day.



  • Set aside time to meditate. Meditation could be taking a couple of minutes for breathing exercises, or simply having quiet time to be with your thoughts. Cultivating this habit can help you relax and expand self-awareness.
  • Keep a journal. Releasing your thoughts, concerns, and goals tangibly can be a valuable, therapeutic tool. Your journal is private and a great way to look back and see how far you’ve come.
  • Have a strong support group in your community. Lean on friends, family, and loved ones for support in the good and bad times. Their encouragement will keep you focused and provide an invaluable perspective on life.
